Growing
without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, genetically
engineered seeds or materials is organic gardening. Growing this way
also means there is no use of sewage or fresh manure either.
Organic Gardening is striving to work in harmony with nature. The soil
is the primary provider of nutrients for the plants. This means the
soil must be carefully monitored. Organic matter is added to the soil,
such as your vegetable scraps from the kitchen. Compost piles are a
great way to collect this material.
Because the seeds are not genetically engineered in organic gardening,
the plant comes from a natural, direct family lineage. These are called
heirlooms, and they go hand in hand with growing organically.
There is nothing like the fresh flavor of organic produce. Organic gardening
is a hobby that rewards with not only with delicious fruits and vegetables,
but also with the skill of working with nature to create something naturally.
