Hydroponic
water heaters are essential for proper temperature control. The ideal
nutrient solution should be between 65 and 75 degrees Fahrenheit. These
devices usually have a range of 68 to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Proper temperature
is needed to make sure the most nutrients are absorbed by the plant and
the environment is controlled.
If the hydroponic system is located in an area that may be susceptible
to the cooler months of winter- such as a basement setup in Colorado-
a hydroponic water heater is highly recommended. A water heater may not
be necessary if one can guarantee the water will always be the proper
temperature, but this is hard to maintain for the average gardener.
Hydroponic water heaters are designed and built to withstand the nutrient
solution. Many solutions have a controlled pH level, but high levels of
nitrogen and other minerals can lead ordinary heating components to calcify
and deteriorate quickly, this is not the case with the water heaters built
with hydroponics in mind. Most hydroponic water heaters are built from
a durable material such as titanium, which will withstand the harshest
of chemicals.
