Hydroponic systems

Hydroponic systems are the apparatuses used in hydroponic growing. Active hydroponic systems use pumps, timers and other electronics to run the hydroponic garden. The pumps bring nutrients to the roots.

Passive hydroponic systems sometimes use electronic gadgets as well. However, they never use pumps. In addition, many rely on a waiting agent to bring nutrients to the roots.

Media-based hydroponic systems utilize a growing medium. Some common media-based systems include flood in drain, run to waste, drip feed and bottom feed. Note that water culture hydroponic systems do not always rely on media.
