Hydroponic Gardening Supplies

Hydroponic Gardening SuppliesThe most important of all hydroponic gardening supplies is a nutrient rich solution. It is the solution that gives the plant all the nutrition that is needs when farming with hydroponics. The solutions contain a mixture of calcium, potassium and magnesium and also contain nitrates, sulfates and phosphates. Other essential elements are also added, such as iron, copper, zinc, boron, chloride, manganese, and nickel. As the solution passes the roots the plant takes up what nutrients it needs, depleting the solution which can change the pH. Care must be taken to keep the solution at the correct pH and with enough nutrients.

The solution has to flow past the roots, but not drown them making the container or channels the second most important hydroponic gardening supplies. There are a few methods of growing each one requires a different container. With a static solution, the water is placed in jars or buckets and the plant is suspended above the water so the tips of the roots are immersed. Any jar or bucket will do, but the solution must be added or changed regularly for the best results.

In a continuous flow system, the water is directed down channels lined with plants. These channels are very important hydroponic gardening supplies and must be constructed to that the water flows continuously down the surface, touching all the roots but not pooling up anywhere. If the water is going to fast down the channel, the nutrients cannot be absorbed, and if it goes too slow, the solution could become depleted to quickly. Special care has to be taken to find the correct flow rate for each plant.
