Commercial
hydroponics is in practice around the world as a way to grow crops without
needing fertile soil or arable land. Large-scale commercial hydroponic
farms are in business in Spain, New Zealand, Mexico, Holland, England,
Israel, and more. Astronomical crop yields have made this a fast-growing
industry.
The largest commercial hydroponics farm is called EuroFresh and boasts
that it is America’s largest greenhouse. The industry is fastest
growing in Mexico. Because hydroponics grows crops using a soilless medium,
crops are less prone to soil-borne disease. The environment is controllable,
so there is no drought, no freeze, and no burn.
Commercial hydroponics is a growing global market trend and will continue
to grow because of the efficiency and consistently high quality of production.
Though many growers are based in first-world countries, many greenhouses
in developing countries use hydroponics technology, indicating that its
efficiency in agricultural production is real.
